Exciting progress on site at Castle Gogar Rigg

Exciting progress on site at Castle Gogar Rigg, where our vision for a bold contemporary dwelling is now entering its final stages of construction.

Located to the north-west of Edinburgh, on the grounds historically associated with Castle Gogar, this new home is beginning to fully express its architectural ambition.

With the building envelope complete, the core spaces are now taking shape.

The impressive double-sided, double-height fireplace - a central feature within the open-plan living space - is emerging as the heart of the home, and alongside a dramatic "up and over" frameless rooflight, this anchors the intersecting linear volumes and reinforces strong spatial connections between the levels.

The project is now nearing the fit-out stage, with internal finishes soon to follow.

Externally, landscaping works are progressing well and are beginning to frame the architecture.

Gabion walls have been introduced to help define the garden spaces, giving the landscape a distinct texture and robust character that complements the stone plinths and contemporary material palette of render and zinc.

Sedum roof areas and expansive glazing to the south further strengthen the connection between architecture and landscape - a key driver in the design from the outset.

It’s always rewarding to see a project transition from concept to built form. We look forward to sharing further updates as the final details come together.

P.S. None of this would have been possible without the creativity and hard work of our Associate Director, Stephanie Else, who is bringing these ideas to life so beautifully.
