We believe great design should feel effortless, centred around people, place and purpose.
Our 22-key Aparthotel in central Edinburgh is that belief brought to life.
The brief was simple: create a space where every guest feels at home, whether they’re here for a night or settling in for a month.
Simple to say, harder to achieve when you’re working within compact city footprints right in the heart of Edinburgh.
We started with atmosphere. Warm materials. Oak that softens and deepens over time. Textiles you want to touch. Lighting that shifts gently through the day.
The result is a series of rooms that feel like a quiet retreat after hours spent exploring the city, the kind of space you actually look forward to coming back to.
Then came the question of scale. Compact doesn’t have to mean compromise, but it does call for thoughtful ergonomic design. With smart storage and flexible layouts, every room works hard without feeling crowded.
The larger suites give guests room to breathe, space to work, rest, and settle in. The smaller rooms are perfect for shorter stays, everything you need, nothing you don’t. But across every room, you’ll find the same sense of warmth and calm running through.
Beyond the rooms, the story continues.
In the lobbies and corridors where people cross paths, we took a bolder approach, clean lines, expressive materials, lighting that guides and uplifts. These spaces connect guests to the life of the building, creating an easy flow between private retreat and shared experience.
At its heart, this project isn’t just about beautiful interiors. It’s about creating places where people can rest, connect, and truly feel at home, no matter how long they stay.
That’s the thing about hospitality design: you’re crafting a feeling people might not be able to name, but they know it the moment they step inside.

P.S. None of this would have been possible without the creativity and hard work of our project leader Matthew Gibson, who is bringing these ideas to life so beautifully.
