The Bowishill Cottage in North Queensferry
At Bowishill Cottage in North Queensferry, our role was to make thoughtful, modest improvements to an existing home, extending the footprint, converting the attic into usable living space, and refreshing the exterior, all shaped by the beautiful setting overlooking the Firth of Forth and three iconic bridges.
With neighbouring properties and the conservation area close by, the design approach was deliberately retrained.
By working with the original form of the cottage, gently adjusting the ridge height and introducing carefully proportioned dormers, we improved light and space while maintaining the building’s familiar scale and character.
A simple brief, a special site, and a shared commitment to thoughtful design and getting the details right. Not a bad view either.
P.S. None of this would have been possible without the creativity and hard work of our Architect Douglas Wright and Senior Architectural Technologist, Matthew Gibson MCIAT who are bringing these ideas to life so beautifully.
