Beachfront Villa, Barbuda
-
The concept design for this high-end beachfront villa in Antigua and Barbuda emerged directly from the constraints of the elongated site, the demands of the Caribbean climate, and close collaboration with the client’s brief - particularly their aspiration for a refined contemporary Caribbean aesthetic.
The proposal developed into a series of coordinated pavilion structures that fully capitalise on the exceptional beachfront setting. Linear circulation routes were carefully orchestrated to create framed vistas and visual connections along the full length of the building, reinforcing the relationship between architecture and landscape.
Although the site is constrained laterally and accessed from a private road on the landward side, both the architectural composition and the external landscape design are oriented to maximise engagement with the beach. The result is a strong and deliberate connection between interior spaces and the surrounding coastal environment.
The layout accommodates generous open-plan public living areas, complemented by secondary guest accommodation and discreet service spaces.A clearly defined family wing provides a private retreat for the clients and their children, ensuring a balanced separation between communal and personal spaces.
